What you actually control
| Input | What it does |
|---|---|
| W / S or Up / Down | Drive forward and backward |
| A / D or Left / Right | Rotate the car anticlockwise and clockwise |
| Left and right sticks on screen | Drive and rotate on a phone |
| Circular arrow, top left | Restart the level with a fresh clock |
Minute by minute
Minute 1. Read the HOW TO PLAY card. It is one screen and it tells you the only thing that matters: acceleration and rotation are separate.
Minute 2. Level 1 is three flat slabs and a black flag. The gaps are narrower than the car, so you do not need to jump them. Drive across and let the car settle between slabs.
Minute 3. If the car bounces, use rotation while it is in the air to bring the wheels down first.
Minutes 4 and 5. Level 2 starts on a block with slopes on both sides and a long ramp to the right. This is where rotation stops being optional. Our car went over on that ramp twice.
The mistake that ends first runs
Holding forward when the car is on its roof. Throttle does nothing for a car lying on its back. Our first attempt at level 1 was still on the clock after four minutes for exactly that reason. The second one took 13 seconds.
Good to know
- The clock counts up. It is a time to beat, not a limit.
- SKIP, top right, carries a video icon and calls up an ad.
- The menu also lists Endless Chill, Stickmen Annihilation, Drawing and an editor. We stayed in the levels.
Skip it if
Loose physics annoy you. Eggy Car asks for the same light touch with two keys instead of four.
That is the short version. The long one, with every screen we saw and the questions people ask about it, is in the Bouncy Motors write-up on Mava Games.
