Eggy Car: your first five minutes
A driving game with no steering and no rivals. An egg sits loose on the back of a small red car, and the run ends when it cracks on the road.
- Made by
- Beedo Games
- You play with
- Two keys, or two pedals on a touch screen
- One go lasts
- A few seconds at first
- How far we got
- 9 metres. Really.

What you actually control
| Input | What it does |
|---|---|
| Right Arrow (hold) | Accelerates |
| Left Arrow | Brakes, according to the game’s instructions |
| The two pedals on screen | The same two jobs for thumbs |
| Orange button, bottom left | Pause |
That is all of it. Your score is the distance in metres at the top of the screen.
Minute by minute
Minute 1. Press PLAY and do what everybody does: hold the accelerator. The egg rolls off the back before ten metres. Ours did, on flat road, every time.
Minute 2. Tap the key instead of holding it. A short press, a pause, another short press. The car creeps and the egg stays seated.
Minute 3. Start watching the egg and not the road. If it drifts towards the tail, you are accelerating too hard. If it drifts forward, you braked too hard.
Minutes 4 and 5. Look for the dashed line across the road with a coin above it. That is your own best distance, and passing it is the only goal the game sets.
The mistake that ends first runs
Thinking the hills are the hard part. We never reached one. The car has an engine and the egg does not, so every sudden change of speed slides the car out from under it. The skill is how gently you change speed.
Good to know
- REPLAY is not instant. In our runs an ad break came up between the crash and the restart.
- The crash screen also offers a video to resume where the egg fell. You never need it.
- The game only keeps your own BEST. Nobody checks a world record, so be wary of any number you read.
