What you actually control
| Input | What it does |
|---|---|
| Drag left or right | Slides the car across the lanes |
| First drag on the start screen | Starts the run |
| TIMED / ENDURANCE buttons | Pick the mode before each run |
| Arrows under the car in the garage | Switch cars |
Minute by minute
Minute 1. Choose TIMED, the green button. Sixty seconds is the right size for learning.
Minute 2. After DRIVE! the car sits almost still with “Drag to start drifting!” under it. Nothing moves until you drag, so look at the road first.
Minute 3. Pass close without touching. Close passes count as near misses, and a chain of them puts a multiplier next to the distance counter.
Minutes 4 and 5. Try ENDURANCE, the orange button. No clock, and the run lasts until you hit something. The CRASHED! card shows distance, near misses, best combo and your best.
The mistake that ends first runs
Aiming at the gap beside the nearest car. Traffic comes in clusters, and in our runs that gap was often closed by a slower truck just behind. The dump trucks and box vans are as wide as their lane. Look two vehicles ahead.
Good to know
- Coins come after every run, a little over three per metre in our games.
- The starter car has short bars for speed, handling and acceleration. The first upgrades are slow to earn.
- Twice we saw a car tumbling far ahead. We stayed out of that lane.
Skip it if
You want corners. For the same highway with a gun on the roof, see Road Fury.
That is the short version. The long one, with every screen we saw and the questions people ask about it, is in the Traffic Racer 3D page on Mava Games.
